DOVER, Del. - The La Salle volleyball team defeated St. Francis (Pa.) 3-2 (25-23, 26-28, 25-21, 21-25, 15-12) and lost 3-0 to Delaware State (25-20, 25-22, 25-21) on Saturday at the Delaware State Tri-Match.
The early match was a grueling, back and forth affair, culminating in a five set Explorer victory. The two-plus hour contest was highlighted by double-doubles by seniors
Kelly Scanlon and
Samantha Tulskie.
Scanlon posted 20 kills (.222) and 24 digs while Tulskie recorded 17 kills (.283) and 31 digs. Freshman
Elena Lamping registered 6 errorless kills (.300) and classmate
Michelle Healy set a season-high with 7 service aces.
In the later match, Delaware State (3-8) made quick work of the Explorers, coming off their exhausting match against the Red Flash.
Kelly Scanlon had 13 kills (.370) and 12 digs while
Elena Lamping recorded 4 more errorless kills (.500).
La Salle (3-11) will travel to Towson University on Tuesday before opening up their Atlantic 10 schedule at home on Friday against Fordham.
