NEW YORK, N.Y. - The La Salle field hockey team will continue non-conference play in preparation for the Atlantic 10 schedule on Sunday when it visits Columbia on Sunday at 1 PM. The Explorers are coming off a tough 3-2 defeat at the hands of city rival Villanova on Wednesday in which LU tied the score with five minutes left only to fall on a Wildcat tally with two minutes to play.

Scouting the Explorers
La Salle (2-3) received goals from senior Becca Chylack and junior Mariel Papa in the Villanova loss. For Chylack it was the 22nd of her career, moving her into a tie for ninth place on La Salle's all-time list. She is also eighth all-time in points (57).
Sophomore Lisa Shaffer (11 saves versus Villanova) leads the Atlantic 10 in saves with 28 and is fourth in save percentage. Sophomore Olivia Leaman paces the conference with her three defensive saves, while junior Olivia Shoemaker is third in shots (13).
Six different players have scored goals for La Salle, led by Shoemaker and Papa with two each.
Scouting the Lions
Columbia is off to a 0-2 start after dropping road contests at Richmond (4-3, OT) and VCU (2-1). The Lions will also host Bucknell on Saturday at 1 PM.
Against Richmond in their season opener, the Lions stormed out to a 3-0 lead after the first half only to see the Spiders tie the game with zeroes on the clock in regulation. Despite the loss, Christie O'Hara made a17 saves in goal against Richmond.
VCU scored in the final four minutes to beat Columbia, 2-1, last Sunday.
In 2011, the Lions finished 9-8 and 5-2 in the Ivy League to tie for third.
