BRONX, N.Y. – The men's swim and dive squad fell to Fordham today, 156.5-141.5.
 
The Explorers' got things started with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay. Seniors Daniel Fitzgerald and Blase Szyszko teamed up with junior Greg Fischer and freshman Jonathan Cabral to clock in at 1:34.96.
 
Freshman Johan Roth put forth a strong showing, taking first in both the 200 yard breaststroke and 200 yard individual medley in times of 2:09.39 and 1:57.22, respectively. The South African added a second place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke (59.66) and was just edged out by teammate Blase Szyszko (59.62). Szyszko also finished second in the 200 yard breaststroke in 2:09.63.
 
Junior Dave Derr won his second 100 yard backstroke in the last two meets, tying Fordham's Thomas Yi in a time of 52.50.
 
Divers CJ Gimpel and Robert Freeling had clutch performances on the boards today, finishing first and second in both, respectively. Gimpel won the 3 meter with 252.55 points and then took the 1 meter with a score of 284.60. Freeling's scores of 237.25 on 3 meter and 240.60 on 1 meter were both good to secure second place.
 
The men ended the meet on a positive note, taking first in the 400 yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:08.94. Junior Cameron Cabrera anchored in 46.92 to overcome a nearly full second deficit to hunt down Fordham's Nick Belfanti.
 
The Explorers compete again in just four days to take on the Loyola Greyhounds at Kirk Pool.
