Women's Soccer Advances To A-10 Semifinals With Second Half Goals

Box Score RICHMOND, Va.—La Salle scored two goals just over 30 seconds apart to earn a 2-0 victory over George Washington in the first round game of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship.  Senior Renee Washington scored her eighth of the season in the 75th minute and was followed almost immediately by junior Jackie Cammarata's first goal of the season.

After a scoreless first half, La Salle's offense dominated play for the first 25 minutes of the second frame.  After several quality chances, the Explorers capitalized  in a big way.

Washington's goal came in the 75th minute after junior Anna Dolhansky sent a cross onto the head of junior Kelsey Haycook in the box. Haycook headed the ball across the front of the net, finding Washington to finish the ball for the 1-0 lead.

After netting the first, the Explorers wasted no time putting a second goal on the board.   Junior Jackie Cammarata received a backwards pass from junior Gabriella Carbone just outside the 18 and sent a rocket to the upper far corner of the net, past Colonial goalkeeper Nicole Ulrick for the definitive 2-0 lead.

The goal was the first of the season and second of Cammarata's career.

Junior Jessica Wiggins recorded one save en route the win in goal, improving her record to 8-2-2 on the season.  The shut out was the eighth of the year for the Acton, Ma. Native, who currently leads the league in shutouts per game.

With the win, La Salle (14-4-2) advances to the semifinals of the 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship and will face #6 Massachusetts on Friday at 5 p.m. as the squad look to defend its 2012 title.
