PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's track and field team opened its outdoor season at the Philadelphia College Classic on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field. Wendy Hutchinson picked up right where she left off in the indoor season, nearly eclipsing a PR in the 1500m with a 4:34.41, good for a third place finish (27-runner field).

Taylor Hackett clocked a 2:20.84 in the 800m and finished fifth (15-runner field). Cayleigh Solano registered the top La Salle time in the 400m run with a 59.99 en route to a fifth place finish (11-runner field). Shanice Johnson set an outdoor PR in the 100m dash with a 13.59, crossing the finish line seventh (12-runner field).

Alyssa Mullen paced the Blue and Gold in the 5000m run, clocking an 18:13.05, besting her previous PR by over 12 seconds. 

The Explorers will compete again next weekend in split squad action. Some will travel to Stanford for the Stanford Invitational on Friday and others will stay local and compete at the Danny Curran Widener Invitational.
