Complete Results

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The men's novice four squad sailed to the gold medal stand to lead the La Salle crew at the Murphy Cup on the Cooper River this weekend.

The novice four upended Bucknell's 'A' boat by 3.31 seconds, clocking a 7:02.20 to the Bison's 7:10.61 to take first place. Virginia placed third, followed by Pitt, Army and Bucknell 'B'. The Explorers avenged an earlier loss to the Bison, as Bucknell 'A' placed first and the Explorers second in the heat round that sent both to the final race. The squad clocked a 7:18.49 in the heat round, behind Bucknell's 7:13.23. They topped Pitt and North Carolina early in the day.

The men's varsity eight also advanced past the heat round, earning a second place finish in the petite final. The Explorers were a hair out of first place, clocking a 6:11.03, just .18 second behind Army's 6:10.85. The Explorers outraced Colgate, Delaware, Saint Joseph's and Villanova in the petite final. Earlier in the day, the Explorers placed second in the heat, racing a 6:09.60. Virginia won that race in 5:58.08. Behind the Explorers in the heat were Delaware, Villanova, Lehigh and Carnegie Mellon.

The men's junior varsity eight also raced in the Murphy Cup, placing third in its race with a time of 6:40.19. Temple won in 6:19.45, followed by Williams College's 6:23.62. Behind the Explorers were North Carolina and Army.

The Explorers return to the water next Sunday, April 7, when they head to Virginia for the Occoquan Sprints.
