ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Explorers built a 3-2 lead, but New Mexico roared back with 14 unanswered runs to defeat the Blue and Gold 16-3 on Tuesday evening at Isotopes Park. Justin Korenblatt knocked in two runs behind a 2-for-4 line at the plate for La Salle and Dan Klem added a 2-for-4 effort as well.

Korenblatt knocked a two-run triple to right center in the top half of the first to put the Blue and Gold on the board early. The Lobos (3-6) picked up two runs in the second to tie the ballgame but the Explorers countered with a Joey Ravert sacrifice fly in the third to take a 3-2 lead. However, New Mexico proceeded to push across three in the third and two in the fourth to mount a 7-3 cushion.

The game was blown open in the sixth with a four-spot and they added five more in the eighth for good measure. All in all, the Lobos tallied 16 hits on the evening. Conversely, the Explorers (2-6) pounded out eight hits.

Klem amassed his fourth consecutive multi-hit game, raising his batting average to .367. Koreblatt also extended his current hitting streak to four games and his batting average to .333. Ryan Welling poked the only Explorer double of the evening while Kevin Conroy, Kevin Baron, and George Smith, Jr. added singles for La Salle.

Starter Pat Christensen took his first loss of the year (3 IP, 5 ER) and was relieved by Ryan Donohue (2 IP, 2 ER). Alec Baum (0 IP, 3 ER), Dominic Sgroi (2 IP, 1 ER), Alex Faust (.1 IP, 4 ER), and Tom Fazzini (.2 IP, 1 ER) each worked in relief.

The Explorers and Lobos square off again on Wednesday evening at 8 PM in the series finale.
