Albuquerque, N.M. - For the second consecutive night, New Mexico's offense proved to be too much for the Explorers to handle in a 17-4 Lobo win at Isotopes Park on Wednesday evening.
Justin Korenblatt extended his hitting streak to five games with a 2-for-4 night and
Mark Williams knocked in 2 RBI for the Blue and Gold.
New Mexico struck for four runs in the bottom of the first and added one in the second to open up a 5-0 lead. La Salle got on the board in the fourth behind a
Brandon Day RBI groundout and Korenblatt RBI single. The Lobos picked up three more in the bottom of the frame, however, and led 8-3 after four innings.
Kevin Conroy led off the top of the fifth with a double for the Explorers and later scored on a
Ryan Welling RBI groundout. New Mexico continued its tenacious day at the plate with three runs in the sixth, one in the seventh, and five more in the eighth.
For the game, the Lobos tallied 20 hits, compared to nine for the Blue and Gold.
Freshman
Joey Ravert was roughed up in his first career start, lasting a third of an inning while being charged with four earned runs. La Salle used seven pitchers on the evening, accounting for six strikeouts and nine walks.
