PHILADELPHIA - Wendy Hutchinson and Meghan McGlinchey have been named to the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team, the conference office announced Tuesday. Hutchinson and McGlinchey were joined by eight other women's runners to compose the list. Alfredo Santana also earned the distinction on the Men's All-Academic Team.

“To have three individuals make the A-10 All-Academic team is a great accolade for not only those three individuals but for our program as well,” head coach Dan Ireland said. “I have always believed that the student-athletes that are doing well in the classroom tend to do the best on the track and this recognition is only further proof of that.  Alfredo, Wendy, and Meghan are three individuals that are as committed to their academics just as strongly as they are committed to their athletics.”

Hutchinson placed ninth (24-runner field) in the one mile run at the A-10 Championships with a 5:07.15. She also ran the first leg of the DMR at the event, propelling her relay team to a third place finish (11:54.39). The graduate student set a PR in the mile at the Penn State National on January 26, crossing the finish line first with a 4:57.21. The Dover, Pa. native carries a 3.96 GPA in her graduate studies (MBA) and sported a 3.80 GPA in her undergraduate career. She was named Philadelphia Inquirer's Academic All-Area Performer of the Year in cross country and was recently named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as well.

"I think everyone on this team works hard in the classroom and on the track," Hutchinson said. "It's something that Ireland has really pushed and Meg and I being recognized is just proof of that."

McGlinchey placed first in the 5000m at the A-10 Indoor Championships for the second consecutive year, blowing away the field with a 16:32.98. The time fell only .84 seconds shy of the conference record. The West Deptford, N.J. native carries a 3.41 GPA as a Speech Language Hearing Science major and was recently named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team along with Huthinson and teammate Stephanie Bearish. The West  Deptford product was also recognized as a Phialdelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer in the fall for cross country.
