Men's Novice Four Leads Once Again With Trip To Knecht Cup Grand Final

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The men's novice four advanced to the grand final to lead the La Salle rowing team at the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River this weekend.

The Explorers captured the bronze medal, clocking a 7:07.25 in the grand final. NY Maritime won the race in 6:57.82. Trinity was second in 7:03.22, followed by La Salle. Rollins, Temple and Bucknell rounded out the grand final.

The novice four advanced via a win in the semifinal, clocking a 7:04.71 and outlasting second-place Temple by 3.65 seconds. The Explorers placed second in their heat earlier, racing a 7:19.47. NY Maritime won the heat in 7:14.21.

The men's varsity eight also made it to the second day of the Knecht Cup, racing in the petite final and finishing fifth. The Explorers clocked a 6:11.08 in the tight race that saw all boats finish within 15 seconds of each other. Mercyhurst won in 6:02.92. The Explorers outlasted Philly rival Saint Joseph's, which finished in 6:14.82.

The second varsity eight and the pair also rowed in the Knecht Cup this weekend. The 2V8 finished fourth in its heat, crossing the finish line in 6:38.46. Drexel won the heat in 6:07.25. The pair finished third in its heat with a time of 9:05.72. NY Maritime won in 8:32.18.

The Explorers return to the water on Saturday, racing in the Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River.
