PHILADELPHIA - Freshman attacker
Katelyn Fay, who drained five goals this weekend on seven shot attempts, has been named the Atlantic 10's Co-Rookie of the Week. She shares the honor with Emily Bowers of Saint Joseph's.
Fay drained four goals in a tough 13-10 loss to the Hawks on Friday, the second four-goal game of her young career. She scored those four goals on six total shots taken, and also picked up three ground balls and controlled one draw.
She added one goal in the Explorers' 14-13 come-from-behind win over Temple on Sunday. Her goal with 18:03 remaining in the game sparked the nine-goal rally that saw the team turn a 13-5 deficit into a 14-13 win.
Fay currently ranks fourth on the team with 25 points, and is third in total goals with 22.
The Explorers return to action for their final weekend of the regular season when they head to Duquesne on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a trip to St. Bonaventure on Sunday at 1 p.m.
