WASHINGTON, D.C. – The La Salle women's lacrosse team suffered a 17-3 road loss to George Washington in an Atlantic 10 conference matchup on Saturday afternoon. With the defeat, the Explorers move to 3-7 overall and 0-2 in A-10 play.
Senior attacker Emi Waldron led the Explorers with seven shots and one goal, while senior attacker Molly Maloney added a goal on four shots.
Freshman midfielder Mia Brennan tallied her first career goal in the fourth quarter. In goal, senior Mary Babbage collected seven saves.
The opening quarter saw La Salle strike back quickly after George Washington's early push, as Waldron found the net to cut the deficit to 2-1. However, George Washington controlled the pace through the remainder of the first half, using a 7-1 run in the second quarter to seize an 11-2 advantage at halftime.
The Explorers were held scoreless in the third quarter as the hosts extended the margin to 16-2 by the start of the fourth. Brennan broke the drought with a late goal off an assist from sophomore attacker Zoe Francone.
La Salle returns home to McCarthy Stadium to take on Rhode Island in A-10 play on Wednesday, March 18 at 1 p.m.
