Pat Christensen and
Dan Klem have been named to the Atlantic 10 all-conference team while freshman
Joey Ravert earned an all-rookie nod, the conference announced Tuesday. Christensen was a first-team selection for the second time in his career, as he continues to add to his voluminous resume full of accolades.
The senior has tallied 44 career saves, good for fifth-most in NCAA Division I history. The La Jolla, Calif. Native was especially valuable to the club in conference games this season, tallying two wins and 10 saves in A-10 play behind an 0.94 ERA. Christensen will leave the program as its all-time leader in ERA and saves while ranking in the top-10 in wins, strikeouts, and appearances.
The La Jolla product was also an Academic All-Conference selection for the second straight season. Christensen, who is the two-time reigning Big 5 Student-Athlete of the Year, carries a 3.61 GPA as an accounting major. Christensen was joined on the team by
Ryan Welling. Welling boasts a 3.84 GPA as a finance major and is tied for the team lead in home runs with three.
Klem, a second-team selection, leads the Explorers in hits with 60. The senior batted an impressive .356 in conference play, the eighth-highest tally in the league. He also notched 36 hits in A-10 action, the second highest mark in the conference this season. The Blue and Gold have gone 23-18 this year with the Parkland product in the leadoff spot.
Freshman
Joey Ravert becomes the first Explorer to make the conference's all-rookie squad since
Dominic Sgroi in 2011. Ravert ranks fourth on the squad in batting at .301 while pounding out 11 extra base hits. The Havertown, Pa. native has posted a .385 on base percentage, the second-best mark on the team.
