PHILADELPHIA - La Salle junior golfer Mike Johnson has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team, it was announced today in voting conducted by the city's 28 sports information offices. 

Johnson led the Explorers for the third straight year with a 75.1 stroke average and shot a 74-73-71=218 (+2) to finish 19th at the Atlantic 10 Championship. The 54-hole score of 218 tied a school record for a La Salle player at the A-10 Championship.

The Ambler, Pa. native also won the Saint Peter's Invitational with an even-par 72 and was second at the Rhody Invitational (76-77=153).

Johnson carries a 3.27 GPA as an accounting major.
