UNVIERSITY PARK, Pa. – – La Salle junior
Kelsey Haycook scored her third goal of the season as women's soccer dropped a 5-1 decision on the road at No. 9 Penn State.
Haycook has scored in each of the Explorers three games this season brining her career goal total to 28, enough for fifth all-time at La Salle.
Haycook's goal came in the game's 59
th minute off passes from
Ashley Chilcoat and
Maryam Huseini and brought the Explorers within striking distance, 2-1. The Nittany Lion's offense proved its potency, responding decisively and netting three goals in a fifteen-minute span to earn the 5-1 victory.
Penn State senior Maya Hayes scored two in the contest bringing her season total to five.
The Nittany Lions drew first blood when Hayes buried a lose ball in the box in the 34
th minute. Penn State would score again just five minutes later when Raquel Rodriquez snuck one past La Salle keeper
Katie Getzinger.
Hayes would assist Penn State's third goal, scored by Tani Costa, in addition to scoring their fourth. The Lion's fifth and final goal came from the foot of Taylor Schram in the game's waning minutes.
