PHILADELPHIA – The Explorers will hit the road on Thursday for a 7:00pm matchup with the Connecticut Huskies.
Scouting the Explorers
The Explorers enter the matchup with the Huskies riding a four match winning streak, all amassed within the friendly confines of Philadelphia. In their most recent outings, the Explorers earned a hard fought 1-0 victory against Big 5 rival Villanova last Thursday, and dismantled Loyola (Md.) with a 4-goal barrage on Sunday winning 4-0.
Junior forward
Kelsey Haycook has continued her torrid scoring pace, notching three goals in the Explorers last two matches including both game winners. She enters Thursday's matchup with Connecticut riding a three game scoring streak. Haycook is averaging a goal a game, amassing seven tallies in the team's first seven matches.
Senior midfielder
Renee Washington continues to be the other half of the Blue & Gold's dynamic attack. She scored the final marker against the Greyhounds on Sunday, her fourth goal of the season. Her 35 career markers are just 5 short of tying the all-time La Salle record, set by Amy Schneider (1999-02).
Senior defender
Ashley Chilcoat has led a stalwart Explorer defense, which is riding two consecutive clean sheets into Thursday night's matchup. Chilcoat got in on the scoring act on Sunday as well, picking the top right corner of the Loyola (Md.) net from 20 yards out. The marker was the second of her Explorer career.
