La Salle Travels To Crosstown Rival Drexel On Thursday

PHILADELPHIA – The Explorers will travel across town on Thursday for a 7:00pm matchup against the Drexel Dragons.

Scouting the Explorers
La Salle enters the matchup with a 7-2 record this season, placing them atop the Atlantic 10 standings.  In their most recent contest, the Explorers outshot the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh, 30-11, en route to a 1-0 victory.  Sophomore Kelsey Celline netted her first collegiate goal in the win, becoming the fifth Explorer to record a goal this season.

Junior forward Kelsey Haycook leads the squad in goals (7) and is the Atlantic 10 leader in points per game (1.89).  Senior Renee Washington's four goals this season puts her in hot pursuit of La Salle's all-time career goal record.  Her 35 career markers are just five short of tying the all-time La Salle record, set by Amy Schneider (1999-02).

The Explorers, who sit atop the conference standings in assists and assists per game, are led by the generous foot of junior Maryam Huseini.  The Skien, Norway native's five assists lead the squad and are enough for second in the Atlantic 10.

Scouting the Dragons
The Dragons enter Thursday's matchup on their home field for the first time since September 8.  Most recently, Drexel upended the Air Force Academy, 1-0, to snap a two-game road losing streak.

Outstanding freshman Shyanne Kimbrough leads the Dragon attack with four goals on the season but hasn't been able to convert in the last three games.  Kimbrough is currently the only Dragon to record multiple goals this season, accounting for half of Drexel's total goals.

The Dragons are currently second in the Colonial Athletic Association in goals against average (1.04) behind the stonewall defense of goalkeeper Even Badana.  The junior has started every game for Drexel and is currently tied for first in the conference in shutouts (3) while boasting a .788 goals against average.
