WASHINGTON D.C. - La Salle Volleyball (1-4) hit the road for their first road match of the season, traveling down I-95 to Washington D.C. for a tilt with the Howard Bison (2-2). The Explorers hoped they could get back on the winning track after dropping their last three matches over this past weekend. Howard had other ideas, as they rode a substantial hitting advantage (.248 to .033) to a four set victory over the Blue & Gold (25-11, 25-19, 24-26, 25-19).
Kelly Perillo continued her solid play with another double-double effort, registering 13 kills (.125) and 11 digs.
Laura Kuhlmeier chipped in 7 kills (.042) and led the Explorers with 14 digs.
Rachel Melich led all Explorers with 22 assists, while also contributing 8 digs and a service ace.
Ashley Felton continued her sparkling defensive play at the net front registering 2 solo blocks and 3 block assist. She now has 4 solo blocks and 19 block assists through five matches this season.
The Explorers are back in action this weekend as they travel to Baltimore (Md.) for the Radisson Cross Keys Greyhound Challenge. La Salle will take on Loyola (Md.) Friday at 7:00pm and will conclude tournament action on Saturday with a double-header against Delaware at 11:30am and UMBC at 4:30pm.
