Women’s Track & Field Breaks Hiatus at UAlbany Great Dane Classic

NEW YORK – The La Salle women's cross country broke a six week stretch of no meets on Friday at the UAlbany Great Dane Classic at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory. Three Explorers finished in the top-11 of the 1000 meter run and two finished in the top-nine of the 3000 meter run to highlight the day.

Rochelle Harrison placed seventh in the 1000 meter run with a 2:58.31. Tori Pisco (3:02.26) and Cayleigh Solano (3:02.45) finished back-to-back, 10th and 11th, respectively.

Michelle Capozzi registered a 10:08.18 in the 3000 meter run, good for sixth place. Anne Areias came in ninth with a 10:15.59.

Taylor Hackett posted a 5:20.46 in the one mile run, coming in 14th (32-runner field).

Chelsea Harris clocked a 1:20.99 in the 500 meter dash, crossing the finish line 16th. Karim Brooks turned in a 33rd place time in the 800 meter run with a 2:34.07.

Shanice Johnson ran an 8.16 in the 60 meter dash, coming in 48th (57-runner field). Johnson placed 20th in the long jump with a 5.20m leap.

The DMR (DiFiore, Dever, Conville, Simoes) ran a 13:18.80, placing eighth in the finals.

Connecticut took first in the event (117), followed by Villanova (92.5) and Buffalo (75). The Explorers came in 14th of 18 with 14 team points.

The Blue and Gold compete again on Friday, January 24 at the Georgetown Invitational.
