DAYTON, Ohio- The La Salle women's soccer team snapped the University of Dayton's 30-game home conference unbeaten streak with a 1-0 win over the Flyers at Baujan Field on Friday night.
Senior forward
Kelsey Haycook scored the game-winning goal in the 31
st minute on an assist from
Jessika Kagan, beating the keeper to the lower left corner for her 12
th goal of the season. The assist was the fourth of the season for Kagan.
La Salle (8-4-2, 4-0 A-10) keeper
Jessica Wiggins withstood a total of 28 shots, including eight on goal, to earn her fifth shutout of the season. Dayton (6-8-1, 2-2 A-10) also controlled corner kicks 9-3.
The Flyers were 28-0-2 over their last 30 Atlantic 10 games at Baujan Field, and hadn't lost a home conference match since a 2-1 setback to Charlotte on October 21, 2007.
The Explorers fired five shots in each half, and landed four on target against Dayton keeper Elizabeth James. Haycook and
Deja Davis paced the Explorer with three shots each.
The Explorers look to win their fifth straight game on Sunday when they visit the Saint Louis Billikens (7-7, 2-2) at Robert R. Hermann Stadium at 12 p.m.
