Field Hockey Wraps Up Regular Season At St. Joe's & Lehigh

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle field hockey squad heads on the road for the final weekend of the regular season, taking on Saint Joseph's on Friday at 3:30 and Lehigh on Sunday at 1 pm.

Scouting the Explorers...

The Explorers wrapped up the home portion of the schedule last weekend by splitting a pair of games to finish with a 6-1 home record. The Explorers dropped their first home game of the season last Friday, a 3-1 setback to Massachusetts, before bouncing back with a 4-1 Senior Day win over Bryant. Gina Smith and Colleen Kempf each scored two goals last weekend and reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Jess Hoffman scored her first collegiate goal.

Kempf catapulted into the team lead in scoring, with 15 points on a team-high seven goals and one assist. Kendall Kreider remains the Explorers' top rookie, scoring 13 points on six goals and one assist, and Devin Muracco rounds out the top three with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Rookie Sophie Lozowski and senior Olivia Leaman are tied for the team lead with four assists apiece.

Rachel Hartman continues to rank second in the nation with a .820 save percentage and fifth nationally with 7.69 saves per game. She sports a 1.67 goals against average.

Scouting the Hawks...

The Hawks enter the weekend at an even 8-8 as well as a 3-4 Atlantic 10 record after topping Saint Louis 3-1 last week. They also own wins over VCU and Davidson in A-10 play.

The Hawk offense relies heavily upon Jordan Martin and Nicole Gerdes, as the pair has outscored the next highest by far. Martin leads the team with 18 points on seven goals and four assists, while Gerdes has recorded 13 points on five goals and three assists. The next highest point-getter is Katja Hansen with six points on one goal and a team-high-tying four assists.

Amelia Diebler has played all possible minutes in goal, recording a 2.38 goals against average and .667 save percentage.

The Hawks have scored 29 goals this season while yielding 38 to opponents, though they have outshot opponents 186-182. They have also grabbed 122 penalty corners to just 100 for opponents.

Scouting the Mountain Hawks...

Lehigh enters the weekend with a 4-12 record and looking to snap a six-game losing streak. The Mountain Hawks' last win was a 4-2 decision over Sacred Heart on Sept. 28. They also have not played a home game since Oct. 4.

Gabby Tofig leads the Mountain Hawk offense with 16 points on eight goals and no assists. Lindsey Schott ranks second with 11 points on four goals and three assists, and Amanda Granger rounds out the top three with eight points on three goals and two assists.

Julia Ward has played the majority of minutes between the pipes, recording a 3.16 GAA and .704 save percentage in nearly 1,000 minutes of play. Katie Morris has seen 127 minutes in six games with one start, and is recording a 5.49 GAA and .545 save percentage.

The Mountain Hawks have been outscored 55-22 on the season and have yielded 120 penalty corners while being awarded just 86.
