PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team scored five goals in the first half on its way to a 5-0 rout of the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Friday night at McCarthy Stadium.
Senior
Pat Sullivan scored his first goal of the season to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead just 41 seconds into the match, beating the keeper low on an assist from
Matt Robinson.
Sophomore
Dan Caya made it 2-0 in the 17
th minute, heading a
Mike Liska corner kick inside the left post for his first goal of the season.
The Explorers then put the game out of reach for the Bonnies with three goals in just over two minutes later in the opening half. Junior
Bobby Briggs started the barrage with his first career goal in the 33
rd minute, depositing an assist from
Joe Farrell high to the right corner at the 32:44 mark.
Farrell then notched a goal of his own at 33:57, scoring on a cross from the far side by
David Keen. Freshman
Joe Hansen capped the scoring with his first career goal at 34:54, burying the rebound of a shot by
Greg Henry to put the Blue and Gold in front 5-0.
The Explorers held an 18-9 shooting advantage, and landed an impressive 13 shots on target against a pair of SBU keepers.
The Explorers look to keep the ball rolling on Sunday as they travel to Duquesne for a showdown with the Dukes at 2:30 p.m.
