Box Score DAYTON, OHIO – La Salle dropped a 3-0 (13-25, 11-25, 15-25) decision to Dayton on Friday evening. Freshman
Hannah McGary led all Explorers with six kills on the evening.
The Flyers jumped out to an early lead in set one and grabbed a quick advantage with the 25-13 win. Dayton was up 14-7 and never looked back as they limited La Salle 11.5 blocks on the day for the home team.
Laura Kuhlmeier and McGary both tallied two kills in the first frame.
The second set was more of the same with Dayton jumped out to an early lead and never looking back. Up 15-5, they powered their way to a set win of 25-11 and went ahead 2-0 at the break.
Kelly Perillo had two kills in the frame.
La Salle came out and battled in the third set. Despite falling behind early they hung in there battling throughout the set including cutting the lead to just four at 15-11. Ultimately the Dayton offense was just too much as they hit .375 on the match.
Sophomore
Ashley Felton added five kills in the losing effort and hit at a .333 clip to lead the team.
Hannah McGary led the team with six kills on just 16 total swings. Senior
Jennifer Whelan added in five kills on the night.
Junior
Michelle Healy tallied 20 assists on the night. If Healy adds 24 assists on Sunday she will become the first Explorer since 2006 to have a 1,000 assist season.
La Salle closes out their season on Sunday as they head to Saint Louis for a 1 p.m. match.
