PRINCETON, N.J. - The La Salle rowing program earned a pair of silver medals to wrap up the fall portion of the schedule at the Frostbite Regatta on Mercer Lake in Princeton, N.J., this weekend.
Three total boats found the medal stand, including the silver medalist novice eight and novice four as well as the bronze medalist varsity eight. The four clocked a 7:24.78, finishing well ahead of third-place Philadelphia University (7:40.79). Temple captured gold with a 7:12.68, and TCNJ was fourth in 8:18.40. The four boat included rowers
Waleed Omar,
Kenny Roller,
Josh Brooks and
Jeff Waldin, and coxswain Braxton Thorn.
The novice eight clocked a 6:29.73 to earn the silver, as the Explorers topped third-place Ithaca (6:38.34) as well as Delaware, Loyola and Maryland. Drexel won the race in 6:18.72. The eight was rowed by
Jake Fabel,
Kieran Hughes,
Kyle Adams,
Brendan Mason,
Zach LaBarth,
Harrison Gargel,
Mike Gormley, and
Kris Walls, and coxed by
Grant Maddock.
The varsity eight was also in action, finishing third with a time of 6:42.97. Villanova won the race in 6:20.66, followed by Lafayette in 6:31.96. Binghamton rounded out the four-boat race with a 6:52.26. The eight was coxed by
Angelie Itaas, and rowed by
Jack Schall,
Matt Cardin,
Marqus Brown,
Kevin Sullivan,
Sean McGettigan,
Russell Carter,
Nick McGloin and
Bill Smith.
The Explorers also entered a boat in the JV8 race, which finished sixth in its race with a 7:24.65. Drexel won in 6:20.26, followed by Delaware, Temple, Ithaca and Washington College. The boat was coxed by Emily Giegerich, and rowed by
James Boney,
Jeff Waldin, Wes Wright,
Josh Brooks,
Kyle Delgado, Nick Horn,
Matt Morton, and
Antonio Stephens.
On the women's side, only the novice four was in action and finished fourth with a 9:36.33. Binghamton captured the race in 8:52.43, followed by Loyola and Philadelphia U. The boat included coxswain
Lindsey Prychka, and was rowed by Emily Finkbinder, Lexi Ibarra,
Francesca Bryce and Amanda O'Hara.
