All-Time SeriesThe Explorers have won seven straight against the Eagles and hold a 20-7 advantage in the all-time series, which dates back to 1966. La Salle earned a 75-63 victory in the last meeting between the two teams (2005).
Scouting the ExplorersCleon Roberts came off the bench on Saturday to lead the team in scoring with a season-high 15 points in 29 minutes.
Rohan Brown provided a double-double off the bench (10 points, 10 rebounds) to help La Salle outscore Drexel 34-16 in points off the bench in the win.
Jordan Price remains La Salle's most consistent scorer, finishing in double figures in his last three games and seven total games this year. The redshirt sophomore leads the Big 5 and is 7th in the Atlantic 10 with 15.6 points per game.
Defense continues to be the cornerstone of success for La Salle this season. The Explorers are limiting opponents to an average of 55.0 points per game and a 34.2 field goal percentage in their five wins compared to 68.5 ppg and a 48.4 field goal percentage in losses this season.
Scouting the EaglesAmerican returns to action for the first time since a 70-55 decision to No. 24/25 Illinois on December 6. The Eagles enter the contest with a 5-4 record after playing eight of the first nine games this year away from Washington, D.C.
Sophomore Jesse Reed enters the matchup as the Eagles leading scorer, averaging 13.3 points per game. The Pennsylvania native is shooting 45.9% from the field and is a proven three-point threat, hitting 36.1% from long range. Seniors John Schoof and "Pee Wee" Gardner have aided American's offense as both are averaging in double figures. Schoof is shooting 47.9% from behind the arc, which is good for 20th nationally. Gardner, Reed and Schoof play more than 37:30 per contest, which ranks them in the top 10 in the nation in minutes per game.
American is holding opponents to 51.6 points per game, which is sixth in the nation. The Eagles have limited opponents to just 30% from behind the arc while forcing 13 turnovers per contest. Senior Kevin Panzer has helped to protect the rim for the Eagles as he has tallied eight blocks on the season and ranks second on the team with 4.3 rebounds per game.
