DURHAM, N.C. – The La Salle baseball team lost twice to Akron on Saturday, falling 7-1 in the afternoon and 8-7 in the nightcap. The Explorers will conclude their weekend at the Blue Devil Classic when they take on Saint Louis on Sunday at 11:00 AM at Jack Coombs Field.

GAME ONE
Akron scored single runs in the first and fourth innings off La Salle starter Shawn O'Neill (0-2) before the Explorers got on the board in the fifth. Ryan Welling led off the inning with a double down the left field line and was driven in with two outs on a single to right field by Kevin Baron.

The Explorers scored a season-high seven runs in the 8-7 loss. They notched three runs in the seventh and four in the eighth, getting to the Zips' bullpen. However, Akron scored four times in the bottom of the eighth to retake the lead for the last time.

Justin Korenblatt registered a two-hit game while Welling cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double in the seventh.

Shane Hollman made the start for the Explorers, giving up two runs in 4.1 innings. Freddy Andujar was charged with the loss after surrendering four earned runs in one inning of work.
