PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The La Salle rowing team was back on the water this weekend, braving rainy and windy conditions on the Cooper River to race in the Murphy Cup to race for the first time in two weeks.
On the men's side, the varsity eight was in action, advancing to the petite final. The Explorers finished fourth in the petite final with a 7:36.49 mark to beat out Franklin & Marshall by about 27 seconds. Washington College won with a 7:03.56. The V8 went to the petite final by finishing third in its heat with a 7:29.27. The Explorers were in the mix, with Lehigh finishing just ahead in 7:21.68. Michigan won the heat in 7:03.62.
The men's junior varsity eight finished in 7:21.65 to place fourth and outlast Pittsburgh by over 45 seconds. Virginia, Temple and Michigan finished ahead with the Cavaliers clocking a 6:38.83 for the win.
On the women's side, the varsity eight finished fifth in its heat, clocking an 8:42.33. Bucknell won the race with a 7:57.38.
The women's varsity four was in action, placing third with a time of 9:32.46. The Explorers outlasted Lehigh by nearly 20 seconds and NY Maritime by nearly 34 seconds. Navy won in 8:44.80.
The women's junior varsity eight clocked an 8:50.52 to place fifth. Navy captured that race in 7:47.99.
