"The guys really played great today," head coach
Brad Kane said. "We finally got a good day weather-wise to play this spring and showed what we can do. Overall it was a very nice tournament for us."
Johnson opened play on the tenth hole and started birdie-birdie. He remained two-under until a double-bogey on the par five 17th dropped him to even. Seven pars and two bogeys on the back gave him a 73.
"It was really solid play from the team today and great improvement from yesterday," Johnson said. "It was a good kick start heading into Lafayette next week and remainder of the spring. I had a solid performance this week with a lot of positives."
"Mike was great and just a couple bad swings away from possible winning the individual title," Kane added.
Freshman
Joe Markmann shot his collegiate-low score of 73 (+2) after a pair of 82s. He birdied three of his first six holes and added another birdie on his 16th hole. He tied for 61st.
"Joe really bounced back strong which was great to see," Kane said.

Greg Goodreds was the second Explorer finisher with his 77-76-79=232 (+19) to tie for 43rd. Sophomore
Justin Smith shot his second straight 76, which included his second eagle of the tourney, to card a 81-76-76=233. He tied for 46th.
