Meghan McGlinchey placed second in the 5000 meter run to headline Sunday's action for the La Salle women's track and field team at the Atlantic 10 Championships. The senior ran a 16:37.14 to finish runner-up a day after winning the 10,000 meter run with a conference championship record time (34:22.38).
"Meghan really finished her career up on a high note with a first and second place finish this weekend," head coach Dan Ireland said. "Her big goal is to qualify for the national championships in the 10,000 meters and I think she's going to be able to do that."Â
McGlinchey said: "It wasn't the best A-10s for me but looking back on all the years I've had here, I'm really happy with what I've done."
Michelle Capozzi posted a 17:28.59 in the 5k, placing eighth and picking up a team point with a strong finish.
Kaylie McNally crossed the line at 18:31.00, coming in 22
nd (25-runner field).
Tori Pisco just missed the medal stand in the 800 meter final, finishing fourth with a 2:12.65. She was La Salle's top point scorer on the day after McGlinchey.
"I'm really excited about PRing in the trials," Pisco said of her 2:10.50 the day prior. "It was the first time this season that I got to go out fast with girls in a good heat."Â
Taylor Hackett came in eighth in the 1500 meter run, clocking a 4:40.01.
Rebecca Scardelletti won the first heat, setting a PR (4:43.79) while finishing 11
th overall.
Carolan DiFiore posted a 21
st place time of 4:53.62 in her final collegiate race.
The 4x800 meter relay team combined for a sixth place time of 9:18.46. The quartet of
Shannon Dwyer,
Cayleigh Solano, Hackett, and Pisco earned the mark.
As a team, the Explorers notched 28 points, coming in ninth. George Mason (164) won while Duquesne (137) and VCU (110) finished second and third, respectively.
