BALTIMORE
– The La Salle men's soccer team suffered a heartbreaking loss at Loyola on Wednesday night after 90 minutes of scoreless regulation as the Greyhounds scored the golden goal just 18 seconds into the overtime period at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Dylan Engel fired a shot on goal from the right side of the pitch just seconds into the overtime period, which La Salle keeper David Tuchinsky deflected to the far side of the box for his third save. Unfortunately for the Explorers, Loyola's Joseph Cahalan was waiting there to punch in the rebound for the game-winning goal.

The Explorers (0-4-1) landed three of their seven shots on goal for the night, but were held at bay by Loyola (3-2-1) keeper Matt Sanchez. All of La Salle's shots on goal came in the first half, and all but one of their total shots came in the first 45 minutes as well.

The Explorers also took two corner kicks in the first half, and controlled corner kicks 3-1 on the night.

The Explorers return home on Sunday morning to host the Stetson Hatters (2-2-2) at McCarthy Stadium at 11 AM.
