Scouting the Explorers...

The Explorers won three straight at home after dropping the first three of the season and are now evened up at 3-3 overall. They outlasted Davidson 2-1 last Friday in the Atlantic 10 opener behind three points (1g, 1a) from Devin Muracco and the insurance goal from defending Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Kendall Kreider.

Kreider was the second straight Explorer to earn A-10 Rookie honors, following classmate Sophie Lozowski the week prior.

Kreider and Muracco lead a balanced Explorer offense with four points each, while a total of nine Explorers have recorded at least one point. The offense has woken up as of late, scoring seven goals in the last three games compared to just one total in the first three contests of the season. Muracco leads the team with 11 attempted shots, and rookie Eileen Dzwill has attempted 10.

Rachel Hartman has been terrific in goal for the Explorers, ranking second nationally in saves per game (8.00) and seventh nationally with a stellar .828 save percentage. Hartman is also in the top half nationally with a 1.56 goals against average.

Scouting the Lady Eagles

Lock Haven has raced out to a 6-2 record, with setbacks only to Penn State and Providence. The Lady Eagles won their Atlantic 10 opener, 3-1, over Saint Louis last Saturday.

The Lady Eagles' potent offense ranks second in the Atlantic 10 as the squad has outscored opponents 27-13 so far this season. Leading the attack is Lydia George, who has racked up 14 points on six goals and two assists. Nakira Downes is right on her heels with 13 points on four goals and a team-best five assists. Taylor Kennedy, Rachel Valentine and Brittney Hickernell have added four goals each to rank tied for third on the squad.

Elaina White has played all but 23 minutes in goal and is recording a 1.51 GAA and .707 save percentage.

Scouting the Tigers

Towson is in search of its second win of the season, starting 2014 with a 1-5 record. The Tigers will face Longwood on Friday before La Salle visits on Sunday.

The Tigers' lone win was a 4-3 triumph over American on Sept. 13, and they are coming off of back-to-back 2-1 losses to Lehigh and Rider.

Stacey Mackintosh leads the Tigers with seven points on two goals and three assists so far this season. Courtney Branco has scored twice and Kelly Mattingly is third on the team with three points on a goal and assist. Seven different Tigers have recorded at least one point this season.

Megan Boyle has been manning the cage for the Tigers, playing all but 40+ minutes of the season. She currently has a 3.83 goals against average and sports a .687 save percentage.

Next Up

The Explorers return home for a pair of Atlantic 10 games next weekend, as they host VCU on Friday (10/3) and Richmond on Sunday (10/5).
