PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team will conclude their nonconference schedule on Sunday as they host the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles at 1 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
Scouting the Explorers (4-3-2)La Salle claimed the No. 1 spot on the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll this week after a loss at No. 21 West Verginia and a 3-2 win over Temple on Sunday (the Owls were No. 7 on the Northeast Regional Poll last week).
Jessika Kagan scored two goals on Sunday, including the game-winner in the 94
th minute, and now has four goals and two assists on the year.
Kelsey Haycook gave the Explorers a 1-0 lead in the 26
th minute against the Owls, making her the all-time points leader (114) in La Salle women's soccer history. The senior now has six goals and three assists on the season.
Scouting the Eagles (6-3)FGCU has won four consecutive Atlantic Sun titles and are coming off three-goal victories over Wofford and CSU Bakersfield last weekend.
Sophomore Tabby Tindell scored two goals against CSU Bakersfield on Sunday to become the FGCU all-time goals leader with 25 in just her 29th career game. Tindell also had two goals and an assist in Friday's game at Wofford to earn her sixth career A-Sun Player of the Week award.
Sunday's game will be the first meeting between the two programs.
