Complete Results (PDF)LORTON, Va. - The La Salle golf team completed the third and final round of the Patriot Intercollegiate, hosted by George Mason, on Monday afternoon. Redshirt sophomore P.J. Acierno had the Explorers' best round with a 72 (+1), helping the squad to a 301 (+17) finish for the day.
"We wilted a little bit today but we were in position to break 300 all three rounds, which is a good spot to be in," head coach
Brad Kane said. "It's two solid performances in a row for us, now we just have to build on them."
The 54-hole total of 298-296-301=895 (+43) was good for 13th in the 17-team field.Â
Senior
Greg Goodreds and sophomore
Joe Markmann tied for 50th with three-round scores of 225 (+12). Goodreds shot 76-74-75 and Markmann went 75-75-75.
Acierno shot 73-81-72=226 (+13) to tie for 59th, while senior
Justin Smith had a 77-71-79=227 (+14) to tie for 62nd.
Graduate student
Tonny Aizpun had a 74-76-80=230 (+17) to tie for 72nd. Freshman
Brandon Raihl competed as an individual and carded a 94-83-93=270 (+57).
Missouri won the event with a 282-288-281=851 (-1), besting Marshall (+2) by three strokes. James Madison (+9), Seton Hall (+14) and George Washington (+24) rounded out the top five. Missouri's Ryan Zech was the medalist with his 71-71-67=209 (-4), besting a handful of players at -3.
La Salle will take next weekend off before playing at the Temple Invitational at Philmont Country Club on October 11-12.
