PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team battled the VCU Rams to a scoreless draw after 110 minutes of soccer on Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium.
 
La Salle had a few chances at the golden goal in extra time, as Sixtus Akinlosotu took a shot in the 105th minute but missed wide to the left after Joe Hansen put a shot on goal in the 97th minute only to be turned away by VCU keeper Pierre Gardan. The Explorers had eight shots in the game while the Rams took only three.
 
Freshman Cameron Keys made one save and intercepted a number of crosses to earn his third shutout in four starts this season. The La Salle back line was stingy, limiting the Rams to one corner kick and blocking a Jorge Herranz shot in the 105th minute that was VCU's best look in the second overtime.
 
Andrew Connors and Colman Kennedy each had two shots for La Salle while Joe Farrell added a shot on goal for the home team.
 
The Explorers are back in action on Saturday night as they take on the Dayton Flyers at Baujan Field.
