PHILADELPHIA –The La Salle women's soccer team fell to the VCU Rams 4-1 in Atlantic 10 action on Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
Freshman
Maci Bower scored her first career goal in the 76th minute to cut VCU's lead to 4-1 but the Explorers were unable to get any closer. Bower played a ball from
Jessika Kagan up the far sideline and dribbled through the VCU back line to beat the VCU keeper inside the far post.
The Rams got on the board in the 2nd minute on a Sharon Wojcik goal. The senior played a corner kick from Amanda Hallesjo and sent it into the top right corner of the net. VCU added to the lead in the 42nd minute when Tori Burress punched in a rebound of a shot from Wojcik for the goal.
VCU's Julia Suarez added two goals in the second half, in the 62nd and 66th minutes, to give the visitors a four-goal advantage.
The Explorers outshot VCU 17-9 in the game although the Rams put six shots on goal to five for La Salle.
The Explorers finish up their three-game homestand with Richmond on Thursday night at 7 PM.
