The La Salle men's swimming team picked up its second straight dual-meet victory to kick off the year, after grabbing a 167-133 win at Drexel on Friday evening.


Senior Johan Roth had a solid meet for the Explorers, grabbing two first place finishes and a one second place finish on the day.

The Western Cape, South Africa native grabbed a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.27, .89 seconds faster than the nearest competitor in the six man field. He also took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.19. Sophomore Dimitrije Mladenovic was close behind in both faces, finishing third in the 100-yard and second in the 200-yard race with a 2:10.92 time.

Roth finished second in the 200-yard IM, with a time of 1:57.46. He trailed only sophomore teammate Fabian Bergman who swam a time of 1:56.46 to win the event.

"Philadelphia is a great city for swimming and diving," proclaimed head coach Jamie Platt. "This week has been quite evident of that. To have quality teams just minutes away is awesome for our team. Drexel is a formidable opponent and we are happy to have come out with a victory on the men's side. We continue to be in a good place and our growth and fun is a great reward."

Sophomore Dylan Yurasits swept both of the diving events, winning the one and three meter events. In the one meter, he scored 298.95 to top the six man field with a 14.1 point cushion over teammate CJ Gimpel. In the three meter he scored 307.50 to top the field by 8.4 points over the nearest competitor.

Sophomore Jakub Bartosiewicz won a pair of events during the meet as well, besting the field in the 200-yard butterfly and the 100-yard butterfly events. In the 200-yard he used a time of 1:51.94 to top the field by 1.2 seconds. He was able to edge out the field in the 100-yard event with a time of 50.37 seconds, just .18 seconds faster than the next closest swimmer.

The Explorers took home the top two sports in the 200-yard backstroke. Sophomore Fabian Bergman won the event thanks to a time of 1:54.62 while teammate junior Jerry Gravel was close behind with a time of 1:56.45.
Junior Mattias Glenesk used a time of 9:40.41 in the 1000-yard freestyle to take home first place in the event. He outswam the field by a margin of 4.61 seconds.

Freshman Aleksandar Nikolic took home the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle thanks to a time of 1:43.88. He out touched the second place swimmer by a .82 second margin.

La Salle was able to take home the 400-yard freestyle relay race thanks to a time of 3:10.31. The team of Bartosiewicz, Gravel, Hughes, and Nikolic outswam the second place finishers by 1.13 seconds.

The Explorers return to action on Saturday October 31 as they travel to Geneva, Ohio and the Spire Institute to take on Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, and Saint Louis.
