Explorers Travel To Richmond For Pair Of Games This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle field hockey team, which has scored nine goals in its past two games, travels to Richmond this weekend for a pair of important Atlantic 10 contests. The Explorers will battle Richmond on Friday before traveling across town to visit VCU on Sunday. 

Scouting the Explorers
- La Salle has scored nine goals in its past two games after scoring just eight in its previous eight.

- Eileen Dzwill and Abbey Lawrence are tied for the team lead in goals with three.

- Jenica Miller is second in the Atlantic 10 with six assists.

- Rachel Hartman is fourth in the A-10 in saves (49) and fifth in GAA (1.80).

- As a team, La Salle is second in the A-10 in penalty corners with 8.70 per game. That number ranks fifth nationally.

Scouting the Spiders


- Richmond is leading the A-10 with a perfect 2-0 record. Overall, Richmond is 5-6 but five of the losses are to ranked teams.

- The Spiders are led by Kelly Quinn and Avery Safford with eight points each.

- In A-10 play, the Spiders have one-goal victories over UMass and Lock Haven.

- Last season, the Explorers defeated Richmond, 2-1 in Philadelphia. Recent graduate Maddy Tettelbach scored both goals for La Salle.

Scouting the Rams

- VCU is near the top of the A-10 standings after beating Saint Louis (1-0) and Saint Francis (2-1).

- Emily McNamara has scored five goals and added four assists for a team-best 14 points. She is fourth in the league in points.

- VCU is coached by Laura Baker, who spent the 2011 season as an assistant coach at La Salle.

- VCU has won three of its last four games and hosts Saint Joseph's on Friday.
