PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team fell to the Duquesne Dukes 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium despite a late comeback push.
Jessika Kagan converted a penalty kick in the 83rd minute with the Explorers trailing 2-0 to make it a one-goal game. Kagan beat a diving keeper on the ground inside the far post for her second goal of the season.
La Salle earned a corner kick in the 86th minute but wasn't able to find the equalizer. The Explorers outshot the Dukes 15-7 on the afternoon, including six shots on goal compared to three for Duquesne.
The Blue & Gold also controlled corner kicks 5-2 on the afternoon. Duquesne keeper Vanessa Perdomo, who replaced an injured Kyra Murphy late in the opening half, made two saves to preserve the lead. Murphy had three saves before exiting the game in the 41st minute.
Duquesne didn't have many chances offensively but was able to capitalize as Katie O'Connor scored in both halves. The Dukes got on the board when Linnea Faccenda found O'Connor by the far post for the first goal of the match in the 27th minute.

The women's soccer team has clinched the 6th seed in next week's A-10 Tournament hosted by Davidson, and will play Saint Joseph's on Thursday night at 7:30 PM.
