CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The La Salle women's basketball team fell 69-53 to the Milwaukee Panthers in the Miami Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon.
The Explorers scored nine unanswered points midway through the 3rd quarter to cut Milwaukee's lead to six on an
Adreana Miller layup with 2:23 left in the quarter before the Panthers answered back.
Milwaukee was able to push the lead back to double digits by the quarter's close thanks to a 9-2 run over the final 2:23.
Miller finished with nine points and four rebounds while
Micahya Owens dropped a team-high 15 points.
Ashanti Freeland chipped in eight points and a team-high six rebounds.
Milwaukee's Jenny Linder led all scorers with 20 points, including 16 in the opening half as the Panthers took a 40-24 lead into the break. Linder added a game-high 15 rebounds for a double-double.
Sierra Ford-Washington also recorded a double-double for the Panthers, pairing 12 points with 10 rebounds. Alexis Lindstrom and Kelsey Cunningham also scored in double figures for Milwaukee, going for 17 and 10 points, respectively.
La Salle will play the Miami Hurricanes in the finale of the Miami Thanksgiving Classic on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the BankUnited Center.
