HAVERFORD, Pa.- The La Salle women's track and field team kicked off its indoor season at the Jack Pyrah Invitational at the Haverford College Alumni Field House on Saturday.

 A pair of underclassmen finished in the top four of the 21 women 60 meters field to start off the day. Sophomore Amber Jenkins ran a career-best 7.92 for a third place finish while winning her heat. Freshman Ariel Mitchell finished close behind with a time of 7.97 for fourth place overall.

The Explorers had similar luck in the 300 meters as a pair of underclassmen led the way with top six finishes. Jenkins returned for the event finishing in fourth place out of 32 with another career-best time of 42.49 to win her head. Freshman Corinne Davis also was next across in sixth with a time of 42.91 while classmate Krista Forbes crossed in 47.59 for 20^th place.

Sophomore Ifetayo Tyler was the sole Explorer in the 1000 meter field crossing in third place out of six runners. Tyler crossed in 3:02.76.

A pair of seniors competed in the mile for the Explorers. Rebecca Scardelletti was first across in second place out of five with a time of 5:15.61 while Kate Conville was right behind in 5:31.23 for third place.

A pair of Explorers turned in strong finishes in two field events. Junior Amber Jackson won the triple jump event thanks to an 11.05 meter distance while finishing third in the long jump at 5.30 meters out of 11 entries. Freshman Kaleah Miller finished in fourth place in the long jump with a distance of 5.27 while finishing third in the triple jump at 10.50 meters.

The Explorers return to action on January 16 when they head to Staten Island, N.Y. for the Great Dane Classic.
