CATONSVILLE, Md. – The La Salle women's basketball team fell 60-29 to the UMBC Retrievers on Sunday afternoon in nonconference action at RAC Arena.
UMBC got off to a strong start and had a 17-3 lead early in the 2nd quarter before the Explorers engineered a 12-3 run to make it a 20-15 game with 1:24 left in the opening half.
Adreana Miller capped the run with a three-pointer and a layup on consecutive possessions before the Retrievers pushed the lead back to eight points by halftime.
UMBC opened the 3rd quarter with an 8-2 run and were able to keep La Salle at bay for the duration of the game. Laura Castaldo had a game-high 17 points for the Retrievers while Amanda Hagaman had an 12-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Miller had a team-high nine points in the game while
Micahya Owens added eight points and six rebounds. Sophomore
Ashanti Freeland pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds to go with six points.
The Explorers return to Tom Gola Arena on December 16 as they host the North Texas Mean Green at 7 PM.
