Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Explorers Fall to Davidson, 77-69

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's basketball team fell 77-69 to the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday afternoon in Tom Gola Arena.

"Davidson was terrific in mental toughness and execution," said head coach Dr. John Giannini. "We are a pretty good defensive team and we worked hard, but I give them all the credit in the world."

La Salle took a 65-64 lead on a Cleon Roberts jumper with 3:45 left in the game before the Wildcats closed the game on a 13-4 run to steal the victory. Davidson's Brian Sullivan led all scorers with 28 points, including 17 after the break.

Four Explorers scored in double figures, led by Jordan Price's 22 points. Price has now scored at least 20 points in three straight games, and four of the last five.

The game was tightly contested throughout, and saw 11 total lead changes. The Explorers trailed by eight points several times in the first half before executing a 10-0 run that spanned halftime to take the lead.

After a Jordan Barham free throw broke Davidson's scoreless stretch, the Explorers continued to control the tempo and eventually pushed their lead to six on a Steve Zack jumper with 11:21 remaining.

Sullivan quickly erased La Salle's lead with back-to-back three-pointers to knot the game at 52-52 with 10:16 remaining. The game then went back and forth until the late run by the Wildcats.

Zack finished with 11 points and five rebounds, while Jerrell Wright had 15 points and five boards. Cleon Roberts added 12 points and three rebounds.

The Explorers are back in action on Wednesday as they host Duquesne at Tom Gola Arena at 7 p.m.
