DAVIDSON, N.C. – The La Salle Explorers blanked the Davidson Wildcats 8-0 thanks to strong pitching and a balanced offensive attack on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
Joey Ravert (W, 4-2) tossed seven shutout innings for the Blue and Gold, limiting the Wildcats to four hits and a walk while striking out three.
Billy Worswick allowed just one baserunner during two no-hit innings to close the game.
Four different Explorers drove in runs, headlined by three RBI's from
Collin McGowan. The junior had an RBI single in the 2
nd and a two-run double in the 7
th.
La Salle took a 2-0 lead in the 2
nd on McGowan's RBI single and a run-scoring double from
Justin Korenblatt. In the 6
th,
Josh Savakinus plated a pair with a double and
Cameron Johnson had an RBI groundout to make it 5-0.
McGowan's double in the 7
th made it 7-0 before
Cameron Johnson scored on an error in the 8
th to make it an eight-run game. The Explorers outhit Davidson 13-4 on the afternoon.
The Explorers will look for the series win on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
