PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle baseball team fell to the Dayton Flyers 11-1 at Hank DeVincent Field on Saturday afternoon.
Dayton starter Noah Buettgen (W, 1-3) put the Explorers away in order until a
Cameron Johnson single to center with one out in the 4
th.
Justin Korenblatt later extended his hit streak to 18 games with a single through the right side in the 6
th.
The Flyers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1
st when A.J. Ryan hit a two-out RBI triple and then scored Robbie Doring's RBI double. Zach Schira singled in another run in the 2nd against La Salle starter
Jordan Meyer (L, 1-2), who gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five in four innings.
The Flyers scored eight runs against five different La Salle relievers over the final five innings, and outhit the Blue and Gold 17-6 on the afternoon.
Trailing 8-0, Johnson delivered La Salle's only run in the 8
th with an RBI double down the left field line to score
Collin McGowan.
The rubber match is set for 11 a.m. on Sunday morning at Hank DeVincent Field.
