ASHEVILLE – The La Salle baseball team fell 2-1 to the UNC Asheville Bulldogs in the second game of the series on Saturday afternoon at Greenwood Field.

Asheville's Joe Tietjen doubled in the game-winning run in the 4^th after Joey Ravert (L, 2-2) recorded the first two outs in the inning. Ravert limited the Bulldogs to six hits and a walk while striking out five over seven innings of work.  

Yan Carlo Rivera tied the game in the 3^rd with an RBI single after the Bulldogs took a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the 1^st.

Asheville starter Lucas Clarke (W, 2-1) limited the Explorers to one run on six hits and a walk through five innings on the hill. Tyler Hughes tossed two scoreless innings in relief of Clarke before Nick Schavone pitched two shutout innings to earn his third save of the year.

Rivera, Cameron Johnson and Chase Arnold had two hits each as the Explorers outhit the Bulldogs 9-8 on the afternoon.  

 The Explorers will close the series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Field.
