BOSTON- The La Salle women's 4x800 meter relay team set a school record in the preliminary round on Saturday at the ECAC/IC4A Championship and qualified for the finals tomorrow.

The relay team featuring junior
Kate Conville, senior
Cayleigh Solano, freshman Ifetyao Tyler, and junior
Shannon Dwyer ran an 8:55.78 which bested the previous La Salle record set in 2013, which also included Solano, Â by nearly two seconds. The time was the fourth fastest in the preliminary rounds and qualified the team for tomorrow's finals.

"A school record is always special, and this one is now different," added Coach
Tom Peterson. "The four ladies have worked very hard the last few months. This was a well-deserved performance."

Freshman
Justin Guerre advanced out of the preliminary round of the men's 60 meter dash and nearly qualified for the finals. In the prelims he ran a 7.01 to move on to the semifinal round where he ran a personal best 6.95. This time earned him a 12
th place finish in the 28 man field and was just .02 seconds off qualifying him for the final round.

"Justin continues to show that he has a big future at La Salle," added Peterson. "In the span of 30 minutes he ran 7.01 and a personal best 6.95. that's a great double for a freshman."

In the men's mile graduate student
Vince Perozze and sophomore
Stephen Lewandowski both competed. Perozze finished in third place in his heat with a time of 4:14.17 while Lewandowski ran a 4:15.59. The times earned Perozze and Lewandowski 27
th and 29
th place finishes respectively.

Freshman
Nick Smart entered the 800 meter trials and finished with a time of 1:57.96. Also competed was junior
Chris Trimble who ran in the prelims for the 1000 meters where he ran a 2:35.47.

The men distance medley relay team of
John Pujols,
Cris Hunter,
Stephen Lewandowski, and
David Ozarowski finished 12
th on the day thanks to their time of 10:05.23.

The women 4x800 relay team will move on the finals which are slated to begin around 6 p.m.
