Lacrosse Rolls To 20-7 Win At St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. - Caitlyn Brostrand and Allee Ilgenfritz drained five goals each as the La Salle lacrosse squad defeated St. Bonaventure 20-7 in Olean on Friday afternoon.

Alanna Diffendal added her first hat trick of the season with three goals and an assist. Katelyn Fay scored twice and five more Explorers recorded a goal apiece.

Taylor Fallon led the Bonnies (1-12, 0-4 Atlantic 10) with two goals.

"Any time you earn a win in conference, it's exciting," Head Coach Candace Taglianetti Bossell said. "We hope to use this team win and build off the momentum going into Sunday's game [at Duquesne]."

The Explorers (6-5, 2-1 Atlantic 10) jumped out to a 4-0 lead behind two goals each from Brostrand and Ilgenfritz. Ilgenfritz opened scoring less than a minute into the game, and the duo traded goals through the first five minutes of play.

The Bonnies got one back with their first goal at the 22:20 mark, and the two teams traded goals after that until the Explorers scored four of the final five goals of the first half to take an 11-5 lead into the break.

Brostrand opened scoring in the second half with her third goal of the game at 28:56. Fallon got it back 34 seconds later, but the Explorers put together a five-goal run to take a 17-6 lead and put the game out of reach. SBU got one final goal with 9:54 remaining before the Explorers scored three straight to close out the game.

The Explorers owned a 37-25 shot advantage and forced 24 Bonnie turnovers. The Explorers also won the draw control battle, 18-10.

Gabby Antonelli made 12 saves in the win. SBU's Morgan Conroyalso recorded 12 saves while taking the loss.

The Explorers remain on the road this weekend with a 1 p.m. game at Duquesne on Sunday.
