SAINT LOUIS – The Saint Louis Billikens scored the game's final nine runs to take a 9-4 victory over La Salle in game two of the series on Saturday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Center.
Saint Louis scored five runs in the 6
th and four more in the 7
th after La Salle jumped out to a 4-0 lead against SLU starter Zach Girrens.
Joey Ravert drove in two of La Salle's runs while
Josh Savakinus,
Ryan Welling and
Ethan Springston each had two hits for the visitors.
Lefty Damian Rivera (W, 2-0) threw 4.2 scoreless innings out of the pen as the Billikens offense rallied.
Billy Worswick (L, 2-2) took the loss after being charged with the deciding run (unearned), but also allowing three inherited runners to cross the plate.
Joey Ravert put La Salle in front 1-0 in the 1
st with a fielder's choice grounder that scored
Justin Korenblatt.
Ryan Welling followed with an RBI single to center to score
Cameron Johnson and make it 2-0 Explorers.
Welling scored on a throwing error in the 4
th and Ravert delivered a sacrifice fly in the 6
th to put La Salle up 4-0.
The series finale is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
