PHILADELHPIA –
Josh Savakinus went 5-for-5 with two home runs and a career-high eight RBI's as the Explorers defeated the Richmond Spiders 13-5 on Saturday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field.
After Richmond went up 1-0 in the top of the 1
st, Savakinus gave La Salle a 2-1 lead with an RBI double in the home half following
Joey Ravert's sac fly to tie the game.
With La Salle leading 3-2 in the bottom of the 5
th, Savakinus drilled a three-run homer to right field to put the Explorers in front 6-2. The senior added another three-run shot in the 7
th to stretch the lead to 9-4.
Savakinus also had an RBI single as part of a four-run 8
th that put the game out of Richmond's reach, and evened the series at 1-1. The Pittston, Pa. native also had five hits for the first time in his two seasons at La Salle after transferring from Lackawanna College.

Luke Reilly (W, 5-2) fanned seven Spiders in six innings while not allowing a walk, holding Richmond to two runs on eight hits.
The Explorers had 15 hits as a club, and knocked Richmond starter Brendan McGuigan (L, 2-3) from the game with no outs in the 3
rd.
Cameron Johnson had three hits while
Mark Williams added two, and Ravert drove in three runs. All three players scored three runs in the game.
The Explorers will look to take the series on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
