Full ResultsFAIRFAX, Va.-La Salle men's track and field earned points from ten people in seven events on the final day of the Atlantic 10 Track and Field Championships on Sunday from George Mason.

For the sixth straight year the men's 4x800 meter relay won the gold medal thanks to a 7:30.56 cumulative time. The team of sophomore

Nick Ross and sophomore
Chris Sanders bested the nine team field by .74 seconds to earn La Salle ten points in the team standings.

"The 4x800 meter relay team truly capped off the championship for the team," stated head coach
Tom Peterson. "Steve, Chris, Nick and Chris continued the La Salle dominance in that event by bringing home our sixth straight championships. I was especially thrilled for
Nick Ross being able to win one final time his senior year."

Sanders also won an individual gold thanks to his win in the men's 800 meter finals. Sanders ran a 1:51.85 to win by .22 seconds and earn La Salle another ten points. Freshman
Nick Smart also ran in the finals running an 1:59.63 for an additional team point.

Chris Sanders had the toughest job out there this weekend in defending his 800 meter title," said Peterson. "He simply refused to lose in both the 800 meter and the 4x800 meter. I am very proud of what he accomplished."

Freshman
Justin Guerre ran a double on Sunday finishing in third and fourth in his two races. First in the 100 meter dash finals he ran an 11.113 to finish in third place and earn six team points. He would return and run a 21.83 which set a personal best for him in the 200 meter dash for a fourth place finish and five team points.

Justin Guerre had a wonderful meet," added Peterson. "He was able to put together five solid performances in the same weekend. That is rare for a rookie. He has a big future in the Atlantic 10 ahead of him."

Two Explorers earned points in the men's 5000 meters. Freshman
Chris Berry ran a 14:50.91, setting his personal best by 5.55 seconds, for a fifth place finish. Senior Vince Peronzze finished right behind him in 14:51.83 for a sixth place finish. The pair earned La Salle seven combined points in the event. Also running was freshman
Bradley Heuer who finished in 20
th place with a 15:37.70 team.

The 4x400 meter relay team ran a 3:21.82 combined time for an eighth place finish and one team point. The team of Guerre, sophomore
Nick Della Vecchia, freshman
Collin Pierlott, and sophomore
Cris Hunter represented La Salle in the ten team field.

La Salle finished in seventh place with 52 combined points over the two days of the championships.

The Explorers return to action next Monday at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet which will serve as one final chance to earn times to qualify for the NCAA Regional Championships in Jacksonville, Florida in late May.
